The SS Euro, sunk in 1881 10-12 mile north of Beachport, South Australia. A coastal steamer, of some 360-380t and some 50 metres long she serviced the South Eastern Ports of South Australia, under lease to the Adelaide Steamship Company. She was originally built for the Port Pirie Trade, Spencer Gulf, South Australia. Approximately 70 people, All but one, made it to shore. A young lady from Mt Gambier, approximately 25 years of age lost her life due to prematurely jumping into the Ocean. She was knocked unconscious with some debris and subsequently drowned.
Lying in some 10 metres of water and broken up, I hope you enjoy this short footage of the SS Euro.
