There are a lot of resident Weedy Sea dragon under and around Flinders Jetty. Large Rays and occasional Swell sharks regularly patrol the area. These larger animals are attracted to fishing bait and fish off cuts thrown back into the water by the local pier fisherman. Occasional collisions between the Rays and dragons are inevitable.
