Brian Grubb has mastered the sport of wakeskate since he abandoned his wakeboard bindings to become the most influential pioneer of this new discipline. In his first year on the professional tour, in 2003, he won the National Championships, the World Championships and the Vans Triple Crown Championships.

After towing the kicker for a couple hours all the way to the #domehomes for @parxxx to jib the roofs, I wanted to get a few hits on it too. The conditions were really good and everyone's hard work was finally paying off. The cold beers tasted pretty good that evening! ? @thegoldenbear #exploremore #wakeskate @redbull @hyperlitewake @malibuboats @billabongusa @zealoptics @perfski @wakeboardfl @wakeboardingmag

Brian Grubb, has filmed projects and won international recognition for his sport, was named Wakeskater of the year, by Wakeboarding Magazine, but as much as he excels in the competition, the freeride is the first love of Brian, who wants to see that his sport grows more That the wakeboard. “It’s much more accessible, much more like skateboarding, and it grows so much every year, it’s crazy” says Brian.

Since then, Brian Grubb has traveled the world making wakeskate in marvelous and increasingly impressive places. From jumping on the rice paddy terraces in the Philippines to crushing the snow of Serbia, and skiing in the ice formations in front of the Cape Cod National Seashore, The wakeskater is constantly in search of new spaces to tear the curl. “I always look for new and interesting places to explore” he says.

Today we show you, his visit to the famous Cleopatra Pool of Pamukkale, an artificial pool that feeds on natural hot springs and surrounded by ruins of the 7th century, which is located in the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis, today Pamukkale, Turkey.

Everything about Cleopatra is always striking. What Cleopatra do we mean? In this case, we speak of Cleopatra VIII of Egypt, daughter of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, who went to ancient Hierapolis to bathe in the pool that at that time considered it sacred or with healing powers due to the warm thermal water.

Of course, our protagonists took all the forecasts, so as not to damage a piece of incalculable value in history. “The column that we used as a rail was made by us to develop this project. We decorated it to make it look like a real pillar”, Brian said. “It’s a fairly simple rail to make wakeskate, but being in such a small location with such shallow water, everything became more complicated.”

Cleopatra’s pool needed some work: “It’s a shallow pool with columns and rocks just below the surface”, Grubb said. “The biggest obstacle we faced was to build the rail and prepare it every day.”

During the day, these pools are open to the public to bathe and enjoy the “champagne water”, but Grubb and his colleagues got a special permit to use the place hours before its opening. “I look at places with water differently from ordinary people”, Grubb said. “I am always in constant search of places to practice and many of them are springs and fountains. Although the wakeskaters always look for places with natural waterfalls to be able to do skater style tricks on them”.

But, once the rail was finished, everything worked perfectly. “The pool was big enough to catch the speed needed to attack the rail and stop on the other side. We knew where the rocks and columns were under the surface and, when we were able to place the rail inside, we had a very good line to maneuver and land with the proper depth”.

We do not know what new surprises Grubb will bring us, but surely we will come with a few amazing projects, because as he says:

“Every time I get on my board it’s a challenge and I have so much fun being out on the water.”
