The Mentawai islands in Indonesia offer some of the best surf on the planet. But don’t be fooled by the perfection, these waves break over razor sharp coral reef and are very fast and hollow. Dutch girl Alissa Martens has spent time in the Mentawai Islands surfing and guiding at Kandui resort. She only started surfing in the Netherlands at the age of 18 and likes bigger barreling waves, unlike most girls.
Alissa got some good waves during the 2017 season. Usually the only girl out at Kandui- the fastest wave in Indonesia- she even comes out of a couple of barrels there, which is difficult for the regular footers. Hope you enjoy this video!
