The Peacock Brothers flew to Argentina, to participate in the Cable World Championship held at Puertos Escobar. Pampa Cable Park was the headquarters of the World Cup of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) that brought together the elite of these disciplines.
For this tournament, major infrastructure investments were made, such as the purchase of a 70 kva generator, the renovation and integral improvement of bathrooms and changing rooms. The formal opening of the gastronomy sector and the renovation of all the beach furniture such as umbrellas and chairs. The construction of the Pool Gap was completed, which is a kind of pool about 2 meters above the level of the lake where the Rider enters with a ramp or railing and falls back into the main lake.
The call was very important because the best riders in the world will participate, including the last world champions. Of course the participation of the Peacock Brothers (Ryan and Liam) from England, and many more.
Liam grew up in a small town in Berkshire called Crowthorne about half an hour from the lake where he went to ride. On family holidays everyone waterskied or wakeboarded. You could say mastering the sport was a right of passage. First trying it at the young age of 6, Liam crashed out and got scared but then 2 years later gave it another go and hasn’t looked back since. You can now catch him hot on the heels of some of the sports best. Keep your eyes peeled as he’s definitely one to watch
Wakeboarding for over 8 years, Ryan now competes all over the world. He’s enjoyed success at the highest ranking events including a spot on the podium at Plastic Playground 2016. His skills were honed close to home at JBSki where he frequently rides with younger brother Liam, pushing each other to new levels and accelerating the progress of British wakeboarding. His fresh approach to the sport has been turning heads throughout the scene as he travels the globe to film and compete.
More than 200 athletes participated in the World Cup in the different categories. Among them are names like the Peacock brothers, Lior Sofer, Julia Rick, James Windsor and the local wager, the brothers Ulf and Kai Distch. The wakeboard cable is emerging as one of the new Olympic disciplines for the Games of 2024 and in the race for Olympic inclusion, Argentina receives in its circular park star the best exponents in the world. We speak with the owners of Pampa Cablepark, to know how this World Cup was created.
