A brief overview of the ex fishing vessel Orao. The Orao was built in the 1960’s by Dinko Lukin and with an original use for Pole fishing Tuna. Dinko is reported to have been a pioneer in tuna farming.
After her demise, she was eventually sold to a local Port Lincoln tourist business, for advertising Shark Cage Diving and Sea Lion experiences. The sale – reportedly $1.00 Anyway, she later had the reputation of sinking on her mooring, and having to be refloated.
The Orao was stolen, or at least misplaced, and now makes for an artificial reef which is still developing. A solid timber vessel, well worth a look if you are ever swimming around and bump into it.
