DAWN WARM UP SESSION BEFORE WSL QUIKSILVER PRO 2018 FINAL

KIRRA PUMPS DAWN WARM UP WSL QUIKSILVER PRO 2018 SURFING GOLD COAST EX CYCLONE LINDA AUSTRALIA

The first Surfing event of the season is over. Quicksilver Pro Gold Coast 2018 was a huge event started on 11th March and the australian Julian Wilson won it in the final against his fellow countryman Adrian Buchan. Julian Wilson in the final made an awesome barrel gaining 9,93 points and there was no way for Buchan to recuperate.
In this event there were lots of participants, both surf legends like Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Kelly Slater and John John Florence and rookies such as the american Griffin Colapinto. There were also many surprises, like the hawaiian surfer Mikey Wright that takes down unexpectedly the x2 world surf champion John John Florence already in the second round. Another one was the rookie Griffin Colapinto that made an incredible triple barrel (something unique) during his quarterfinals gaining a perfect result of 10 points.
So, many surfers and many emotions and in the background the beautiful waves of Kirra Point in Australia.

In the day of the finals, before they started, was filmed the warm up session of the athletes from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. The video was posted on the youtube channel SURFlix and it’s really beautiful because the music in the background is perfect, the barrels are awesome and it’s really nice to see the best surf athletes catching them. This video represents the perfect conclusion for the QUicksilver Pro Gold Coast 2018.

But now let’s get to know better the winner of this event, Julian Wilson. He was born in Coolum beach in 1988 and during his career he won three times the ASP world tour ( Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2012, Billabong Pipe Masters 2014, J-Bay Open 2015). About the last one this was a Co-win with Mick Fanning and in this event Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark. Wilson paddled toward Mick to assist him and for this action he was hailed as a hero. Last year he achieved the rank #3 on the World Surf League Championship Tour. This is his first achievement of 2018, we look forward to see what happens in the future.

  1. Just great vid I was there on that day and it was pumping huge 6/8 foot waves rolling in. All the pro surfers were out there on the Quick silver pro/Roxy pro and it was a sick day. Amazing footage keep up the greate work.

  2. Wow! What a vid! That session was off the hook! The best riding the best. Loving that dirty down and out grimy guitar as well, perfect soundtrack for frieght train barrels. Thank you cyclone, thank you Kirra, thank you riders and photographers, Epic!

  3. Some many of those shacks look like Backdoor Pipe. Obviously not the lengthy ones… but those slabby punchy ones that spit like a camel with a bad attitude….QLD Kirra in the house! World class break… I’m still frothing and I didn’t even surf it…. Damn!
